Hungarian Film Week

After a short planning we’ve made it to the 41st Hungarian “Film Week”.

The opening ceremony and a part of the overall programme were held in MOM Park which is a large shopping centre in Budapest. The show began with a folk dance performance (of course :)) on the ground floor and the audience were led to the cinema which was in the opposite side of the building. It was funny to see such a performance in a mall.

There were loads of people waiting for the opening ceremony, many of them well-known to those who are interested in culture: directors, cameramen, actors, actresses. We were just trying to take a photo of Miklós Jancsó, when the batteries of our camera died. We were a bit angry. Unfortunately, we didn’t have VIP tickets to get in to the official opening, so we left.

The next day we went to "Uránia Nemzeti Filmszínház", a beautiful old cinema where some of the screenings took place. We visited the film poster exhibition and took some photos. We felt like photojournalists so we decided to make an interview with somebody. We spotted a young woman and after a few minutes pulled ourselves together, went up to her and asked some questions. It was fun. :)

Here are some of the things she said:

“I enjoyed the Film Week very much. It’s a pity it’s over soon.”
“I don’t miss celebrities. The absence of famous international stars only enhances the experience. In addition, it is a great opportunity for less famous actors to prove themselves.”
