Two important places of religious interest in Budapest

Ildi and me were walking around in Budapest and took some photos of two important places of religious interest.

In the pictures you can see the Matthias Church and the Synagogue. The Mathias Church is a Catholic church built in the 13th-15th centuries mainly in gothic style. It is located in the Castle District. The highlight of the interior is the Loreto Chapel which originates from the15th century.

The Dohány Street Synagogue or Great Synagogue is located in the centre of Budapest. It's the largest synagogue in Europe and second largest in the world after Temple Emanuel. It was built in 1854-59 in Moorish style acccording to Ludwig Förster's plans. It is beautiful! Next to the Synagogue there is a Jewish cemetery and the Raul Wallenberg Memorial Park.

Unfortunately we couldn’t go inside neither of these buildings as we forgot to bring money with us and couldn't pay the entrance fee. We might go back another day.:)

Enjoy the blog!
See you!
